This course advances occupational therapy practice in mental health, with emphasis on the assessment and intervention of individuals with complex mental health conditions and psychosocial needs across diverse care settings. It addresses the design and implementation of person-centered, occupation-based, and evidence-informed interventions to support independence, symptom management, self-regulation, habits and routines, life skills, and social participation. Topics include individual and group interventions, psychosocial and vocational rehabilitation, support for education, work, leisure, community integration and participation, health and wellness promotion, and relapse prevention. Emphasis is placed on recovery and empowerment, advanced clinical reasoning, outcome measurement, risk management, environmental and social adaptations, and collaboration with families, caregivers, interdisciplinary teams, and community services. |
