This course introduces the fundamental principles and theories of human psychological growth and development across the lifespan, from childhood through older adulthood. It examines cognitive, emotional, social, and behavioral development, as well as the development of personality, identity, language, and social relationships, and the biological, familial, environmental, and cultural factors that influence developmental trajectories. The course addresses the characteristics and developmental tasks of different life stages, individual differences, and changes and challenges associated with life transitions. Emphasis is placed on understanding the interaction among developmental domains and their influence on behavior, learning, relationships, independence, performance, and participation in activities and life roles, providing a foundation for understanding individuals' needs within occupational therapy and rehabilitation contexts. |
