This course introduces the foundations of occupational therapy practice with individuals with physical disabilities, emphasizing the impact of musculoskeletal conditions, upper-extremity injuries, and other physical conditions on occupational performance, independence, and participation. It addresses principles of occupational therapy assessment and analysis of performance in activities of daily living, instrumental activities of daily living, work, leisure, and social participation, as well as motor, sensory, and environmental factors affecting performance. The course covers person-centered goal setting, activity analysis, occupation-based intervention, activities of daily living training, activity and environmental modification, joint protection and energy conservation, positioning, adaptive equipment, and basic assistive technologies. Emphasis is placed on clinical reasoning, evidence-informed practice, and promoting independence, safety, and participation in meaningful occupations. |
