This course focuses on reviewing and discussing theories of language acquisition as they relate to communication and language of young children with special needs. It deals with typical and atypical language development covering theoretical models, different strategies for assessing and evaluating language development of children with special needs, reviewing of research of language environments that relate to early literacy and education, how to use this information to modify environments for children with special needs, and the strategies for teaching language skills to students with special needs. |
