Welcome to the website of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences (FPS) at the Hashemite University. The FPS was established in 2013 and is distinguished from its counterparts in other Jordanian universities with its unique study plan which was designed based on the required competencies of the current pharmaceutical market, where the drug industry is becoming one of the advanced industries and many pharmacists are working in the industrial, marketing and the administrative fields of the pharmacy profession. The curriculum was designed after focused group discussions, about the future pharmaceutical market’s needs and competencies, with major pharmaceutical company managers, chain pharmacy and drug store owners, legislators, and pharmaceutical manufacturers, as well as deans and professors form other universities. The HU pharmacy curriculum implement Technical Writing Skills, Drug Informatics, Drug Quality and Regulatory Affairs, Cosmetics, Pharmaceutical Management, and Communication Skills, Pharmaceutical Finance and Accounting, Biosimilars and their Legislative Aspects as unique practice-oriented courses. We also provide unique training experience for our students through the development and adopting of systematic plans for applied training under the direct supervision of the faculty members in cooperation with various training bodies so as to contribute to refining the character of our students and help them to find a link between theory and practice. Two types of applied training for the students are provided; applied training in community pharmacies and hospitals and specialized training in their final year in pharmaceutical factories, pharmaceutical research centers and drug stores, in order to refine our graduate skills and actively engage them in various fields of their future profession. In addition, the curriculum offers an elective applied research course where students engage in small research project under the supervision of a faculty member to help them develop their skills in scientific research. We also involve our students with many extracurricular activities to create a new generation of highly qualified open-minded pharmacists, who are able to practice the profession of pharmacy and lead it to a better future.
