Prof. YAHYA AHMED SHEHADEH ALI

Faculty of Arts

Dear Students, Visitors, and Guests:

I warmly welcome you to the page of the Faculty of Arts at The Hashemite University. Founded in 1995 along with the inception of the University, this Faculty is one of the established faculties and the only faculty currently offering a doctoral program in Arabic Language and Literature. Our Faculty also offers four Master's degree programs in Arabic (both Language and Literature/Criticism), English Language, and Peace and Conflict Resolution. Bachelor's level courses are taught in four departments: Department of English Language and Literature, Department of Arabic Language and Literature, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (being turned into Department of International Relations and Strategic Studies soon), and Department of Allied Humanities.

Our study plans evolve to cope with new developments in the fields we teach. We have updated all of our Bachelor's level study plans, and such modified plans are in use for the class of students in the academic year 2017/2018.

Our Faculty of Arts is the cultural front of our university as manifested in the numerous cultural activities carried out by our active cultural committees and the outstanding Bachelor's program we have in Literature and Cultural Studies in English. We also have unique reading initiatives (one called "Reading Café" and the other known as 'Abir Sabeel Library), beneficial community service events, and multiple volunteer activities executed in the elective courses we teach like "National Education" and "Life Skills," among many others.

It is our mission to prepare and qualify generations of young and positive youth equipped with necessary life skills like tolerance, efficient communication skills, and positive thinking.

And to achieve this goal, we educate and graduate cultured and alert students well aware of their national values and identity as well as capable of contributing to a global human civilization and meeting the challenges encountered in the way of building a prosperous future.
