I am pleased to welcome you all to Queen Rania Faculty of Tourism and Heritage at the Hashemite University...
It is well known to everyone the vital role that tourism plays as an important sector in the Jordanian economy by contributing to the national income, bringing in foreign currencies, improving the balance of payments, providing job opportunities and reducing unemployment. That is in addition to building bridges of cultural and human communication among cultures.
Jordan is an open museum. The archaeological, historical, cultural, religious and environmental sites are spread on its land, creating an important destination for tourism and leisure. Distinguished tourism services play an important role in introducing the hospitality, nobility and authenticity of Jordanian society, as well as its distinguished cultural heritage. These are the foundations for a successful tourism industry in the long run.
Hence, the need to educate communities about the significance of tourism development, and even to know the impact of that sector on them in all economic, social and environmental aspects, as well as the need to know the way to prepare individuals to be part of the distinguished employment of the tourism labor market in the future; all of these are essence of the education offered by universities as main stakeholders in the development of societies. Also, heritage is part of our national identity, and a source of our pride, which makes its sustainable management and preservation of great importance.
 
What we are witnessing today of knowledge revolution, and continuous social, political and cultural changes, confirms the important role of the university in preparing human resources, conducting scientific research, and contributing to the process of upbringing and transferring culture in a way that ensures a present social awareness that is familiar with world issues. I wish you all a successful life journey in our beloved university, and all appreciation to the colleagues in our faculty departments… We are your family and here for you.
