Course Discription
:
Foundations of mechanical, electrical, magnetic, and optical transport phenomena. Study of fluid mechanics and fluid flow in rigid and elastic pipes (applications on blood flow and kidney blood). Energy transport in optical systems (applications on light transmission within the retina/visual system). Elastic energy transfer in mechanical waves (applications on stress waves in skeletal structures). Transport across permeable and semi-permeable membranes (applications on mineral transport across cell membranes). Applications of biomaterial transport in the design of artificial organs and prosthetic systems.
