About Department

This department offers a B.Sc. degree in "Conservation Science".  It aims, through the courses it offers, at developing and training students to respond to the challenges presented by the deterioration of environmentally sensitive and fragile buildings and materials, and to be able to deal with newly discovered archaeological remains.  Upon completion of his study, a student should be able to work in a museum, an archaeological excavation, or with government bodies responsible for the protection of the cultural heritage. 

Objectivs and Vision
- To provide Jordan and nearby countries with highly graduated trained experts in related fields of research and studies. 
- Implementation of advanced research and studies on issues related to conservation and maintenance of archaeological and heritage sites in Jordan.
- Discovering and excavating archaeological sites in Zarqa and other districts, that is in addition to train the students in field operations in management, conservation and documentation.  
- To hold local, regional and international conferences, workshops and seminars on topics related to the application of science and technology in archaeology, as well as the sponsoring and coordinating of training programs, which are necessary for assisting the public and private sector in implementation of techniques and methods for the preservation and conservation of Jordan s cultural heritage. 

Future Vision 
- Support the scientific research related to conservation.
- Establish specialized graduate programs in restoration. 
- Develop relations with other institutions interested in the areas related to conservation of cultural resources.
- Establish all the needed laboratories of the institute.
- Establish a specialized library for conservation and restoration fields
- Activate the relation with the different authorities involved in conservation and restoration of different forms of heritage and cultural remains
