Strategic Plan

The department of the Electrical Engineering is one of the important departments in the college of Engineering. The department offers courses covering various disciplines in knowledge and engineering practice, which will help provide the community with a new generation of engineers with excellent knowledge and capabilities that will play an important role in the scientific, technical, economical, and societal development of our society. To achieve this goal, the Electrical Engineering Dept. attempts to acquire detailed information about the engineering needs of the local market, in addition to the latest engineering developments and needs regionally and internationally, and accordingly modify and modernize the study plans for the B.Sc. level and/or open M.Sc. plans covering new important areas in elect. Eng. In addition to this, the EE dept. is keen on the development of the academic staff by appointing of new staff with high qualifications, and by sending students to complete their Ph.D. study in prestigious Universities. The EE department has also started to put big efforts in working towards achieving the requirements to get the ABET.

Society Services

The EE department is keen on continuously serving the local community through the following activates:

  1. Activating the program of a Ph.D faculty for each factory to solve industrial problems.
  2. Organizing training courses for the technicians in the local industrial community through the center of studies and consultations.
  3. Participating in specialized committees for specific consultations.
  4. The development of a technological incubator in the EE department for development and marketing of pioneering scientific ideas that serve the local market.
  5. A group of faculty members will coordinate with the UN office for women development to found an academy to be in charge of providing equipment and facilities to train faculty, engineers and students.
  6. Activation of the continuous education center to run courses (Matlab, Pspice).
  7. Working together with local government establishments to solve community problems.

 The Study Plane

The EE department has designed the study plan 2011 to match the needs of the local market, and work is continuing to further improve to match also to ABET standards. The EE department has also been continuously in contact with the industry related to EE engineering to verify the level achieved by our program objectives and the need to modify these objectives.

Scientific and Research Centers

The EE department is working towards founding new scientific and research centers as follows:

The clean energy project

Because of the pollution associated with the power generation plants, and the high costs of generated power, the EE department is studying a project for nuclear energy power generation plants since it is more cost efficient than other choices.
