Overview

The Department of Information Technology at the faculty of Prince Al-Hussein Bin Abdullah II for IT offers a Bachelor degree in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. Upon completion of the degree requirements of this program, students will obtain a bachelor’s degree in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, which prepares highly trained professionals in the field of data science and artificial intelligence. This program is concerned with integrating the applications of artificial intelligence into data science, by offering very modern courses, with a focus on applied aspects and benefiting from all types of available data regardless of their nature. Merging the two fields (data science and artificial intelligence), into one integrated study plan, promotes the development of a system that relies mainly on the exploitation of available data and the most effective artificial intelligence methods to better support the decision-making process and facilitate business procedures. Since artificial intelligence offers new and modern methods of data analysis that may need high-performance computing, the program offers specialized programming courses in both fields (artificial intelligence and data science). At the academic level, the department’s goals are to enable students to be familiar with the latest applications in the fields of big data analysis and mining, neural networks, deep learning, robotics and computer vision.
The requirement for obtaining a bachelor degree in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence is (132) credit hours based on an approved plan. The credit hours are distributed as follows: (27) credit hours are university requirements, (22) credit hours are faculty requirements, (71) credit hours are mandatory major requirements and (12) are elective major requirements.
The Data Science and Artificial Intelligence program covers the following areas of knowledge:
Artificial intelligence, artificial neural networks, big data analytics, bioinformatics, business intelligence, computer vision, data mining, data science, deep learning, image processing, information retrieval, machine learning, natural language processing, pattern recognition, real-life systems and virtual reality.
