About Department

The Electrical Engineering department was one of the first departments established in the Faculty of Engineering of The Hashemite University. The infrastructure and facilities, both support professional engineering education and research in important areas of applied sciences and technologies. Currently, the department has (18) faculty members, 16 of whom hold doctoral degrees and 2 hold master's degrees, including experts in their respected fields. The number of BSc students has reached (492) in this academic year. The department is well equipped with facilities including labs, e-learning lecture halls and computer labs.

The Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Electrical engineering at the Hashemite University is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the commission’s General Criteria and Program Criteria for Electrical, Computer, Communications, Telecommunication(s) and Similarly Named Engineering Programs.

The department strives to be distinguished on the research and development scale. The department is aiming to bridge the gap with local industry as this will enrich (R&D) and serve the local community. We have established collaboration links with leading universities and research centers around the world. Active research areas includes: wireless communication, Digital signal Processing, Energy Conversion, renewable energy Technologies, Power Line Communication, and Electrical Power Engineering. The department recently established and developed a laboratory for the Internet of Things, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence applications to support the course of the study plan in the master’s and bachelor’s programs. The department also obtained from the Jordanian Telecommunications Regulatory Authority a license to manage, operate, and establish an Internet of Things system to support the department’s efforts and The university is in the field of research and development.
