Processor architecture, controllers, buses, DMA. Performance and cost measurement considerations, distributed system models. Advanced pipelining techniques, processor implementation strategies, CISC and RISC, vector processors, single and multiple issue processors, VLIW, superscalar processors, special purpose components and devices; I/O and bus subsystems. Multiprocessor systems hardware description languages. Course project. |
