This course is no longer taught. Fundamentals of transport phenomena for mechanical, electrical, magnetic, and optical energy. Review of fluid mechanics and fluid transport in rigid and elastic vessels (applications on blood flow and kidney fluids in the human body). Energy transfer in optical systems (applications on light transport in the retina). Mechanical energy transfer in its conductors (applications on compressive wave transmission in the skeletal system). Transport phenomena through permeable and semi-permeable membranes (applications on material transport across cell membranes). Biomedical transport applications in the design of artificial organs and prosthetic systems. |
