Introduction to power system engineering; economic structure of energy systems, energy markets, and consumer behavior; fundamentals of electricity markets, market participation, and public policy regulations for energy systems, including competition, market restructuring, market power, full retail competition, pricing mechanisms, demand response, and demand-side management. Introduction to optimization and economic operation of power systems; concepts of power system security; economics of renewable energy systems; basic principles of power system reliability; and reliability indices for distribution systems. The course includes project design and presentation. |
