Course Discription
:
An in-depth and thorough study of the major issues in literary criticism since the classical age to our present time including articles composed by prominent American and British critics. Among the issues dealt with in this class are the relationship between language and literature; problems with analysis, writing and ideology; interpretation; phenomenological; pragmatism, in addition to the critical philosophical schools the course seeks to present by means of examining the given assumptions prominent critics consider including classicalism, romanticism, modernism, postmodernism, reader response, de deconstructionism. The course aims at familiarizing students with literary criticism and to train them to read literature and write about it.
