Course Discription
:
The course is intended as a survey course that includes the study a selection of the great author’s comedies and at least one history play alongside his two great tragedies, Hamlet and King Lear. The course will use both film and student performance, in addition to close reading and discussion, to help reveal Shakespeare's stories, characters, and themes as particularly meaningful to today's times. The author’s life and times, as well the debate over whether in fact Shakespeare is the actual author of these works, will also be studied
