Course Discription
:
An introduction on the conception and importance of environmental control and its influence on the design of buildings and energy. The course introduces the aims of energy efficient buildings through understanding and studying the requirements of thermal comfort and visual comfort. First, Thermal Comfort: Solar radiation, sun path diagram, design of shading devices. Thermal exchange between the building and the environment, ventilation and building envelop.. Second, Visual comfort (Daylighting): Importance and components of daylighting indoors. Influence of architectural parameters on daylighting performance quantitatively and qualitatively Methods of analyzing daylighting. Daylighting systems and techniques. Evaluation and enhancing thermal behavior and daylighting performance in applied examples.
