The Hashemite University has reached yet another remarkable milestone in its pursuit of excellence in scientific research and international projects in higher education. We are thrilled to announce that the university has secured a substantial funding of €800,000 from the European Union under the prestigious ERASMUS+ program for the year 2023. Dr. Randa Mahasneh, an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Educational Sciences and Deputy Dean of Academic Development and International Outreach at the Hashemite University, submitted the project titled "Capacity Building Educational Program for Preceptors: Supporting medical students' clinical experiences" (CaP4Preceptors).
The project was among a large number of applicants and underwent a series of rigorous evaluations supervised by specialized committees from the European Union. On Tuesday, August 1, 2023, the European Commission announced the results, and the Hashemite University emerged as the principal investigator, making it the only project from Jordan to receive funding from the European Union in the category of Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) for this year. The Hashemite University has extended an invitation to all medical faculties in the Kingdom to participate in the project, which aims to support medical education in Jordan by providing exceptional educational and training experiences for students in hospitals through clinically and academically qualified medical professionals. The project aims to build the capacities of clinical trainers (doctors) working in educational hospitals in Jordan by designing and implementing a professional training program to enhance their teaching, supervision, and training skills.
The project, led by the Hashemite University as the principal investigator, involves the participation of the Jordanian Ministry of Health, the University of Jordan, Jordan University of Science and Technology, Yarmouk University, Mutah University, Al-Balqa Applied University, the University of Minho from Portugal, and the University of Patras from Greece.
The progress of this project is in line with the directives of the esteemed President of the university, Prof. Fawwaz Al-Zboun, emphasizing the necessity of establishing partnerships with international and local institutions that contribute to increasing international networking and working towards community development. Prof. Al-Zboun praised the efforts of the faculty members in research collaboration and networking with various international and local entities, which enhances the university's standing internationally and regionally.
The Dean of Academic Development and International Outreach pointed out that this project falls under the category of non-research projects overseen by the deanship. The deanship announced the availability of opportunities to apply for these projects and organized seminars that motivate and informed faculty members about the importance of these projects and the process of applying for them.
We express our heartfelt gratitude to the Jordanian National ERASMUS Office, represented by Prof. Ahmed Abu Al-Haija and Ms. Asma Al-Smadi, for their efforts in preparing and encouraging researchers and academics to apply for European projects.
We take great pride in this achievement, which reflects positively on the Hashemite University, the participating Jordanian universities, and the healthcare sector. May Allah grant us success for the betterment of our beloved Jordan under its wise leadership.
