The Hashemite University and Colorado University discuss strengthening academic and research cooperation

 

As to keep the path for excellence  in enhancing cooperation with prestigious international universities with the aim of competing at the global level and keeping up with the international standards in the educational process, The Hashemite University President, Prof. Khaled Al-Hyari, discussed with the Director of the International Admissions Center at the University of Colorado, Steve Verhults, the issue of activating the memorandum of understanding signed between the two universities as to  enhance joint cooperation between them in scientific and research fields, offering joint programs, which  enables the Hashemite University students to study their last two academic years at the University of Colorado with in state tuition fees.The meeting was attended by Vice Presidents Prof. Dr. Khaled Abu Al-Teen, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Suleiman Al-Masha’leh, Prof. Dr. Wasfi Al-Rawabdeh, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Prof. Dr. Hassan Katkhuda, Dean of International Communication Prof. Dr. Shaher Al-Hamaideh, Professor of Life Sciences Dr. Lubna Tahtamouni, and Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Prof. Dr. Alaa Al-Ghazou.

 

Prof. Al-Hayari stressed that the Hashemite University always looks forward to strengthening international cooperation with all Arab and international universities, and upgrading all its educational programs and international accreditations to be among the universities that are referred to for their scientific efficiency and for their highly experienced and qualified teaching staff, explaining that this joint cooperation between the two educational institutions for the possibility of the university students to studying for the last two academic years at the University of Colorado will enhance the scientific partnership, transfer expertise and skills and strengthen the educational outcomes for both sides. He stressed the university's readiness for any scientific and research cooperation, and to provide all the university's capabilities to support this fruitful cooperation. Mr. Fair Hilts said that the University of Colorado in the United States is one of the prestigious public universities, and grants many accredited academic degrees for the bachelor's and master's levels, and expressed his happiness to open horizons of cooperation and strengthen the partnership with the Hashemite University.

 

Prof. Al-Mashaaleh pointed out that the Hashemite University signed a memorandum of understanding last year that aimed at implementing joint academic and research activities by the two universities, such as conferences, teaching some subjects in person, in addition to exchanging academic and research expertise, students, published research, and materials of common interest. Its provisions also included the creation of two bachelor's and master's programs, so that the student spends two academic years at the Hashemite University and two years at Colorado State University, or three years here and one year there, and exchanging scientific sabbatical leaves between the two universities in the field of languages, and exchanging students and expertise in all scientific specializations. The guest delegation accompanied the Dean of Academic Development and Dr. Al-Tahtamouni on a tour of the Department of Life Sciences and Biotechnology, the Building and Construction Systems Laboratory, and the water desalination plant.
