His Royal Highness Prince Faisal Sponsors the Launch of Youth Integration Projects in National Development with the Participation of The Hashemite University
His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Al Hussein, with the presence of Her Highness Princess Aisha bint Faisal, sponsored the launch of the "Youth Integration in the Development Process in Jordan" projects funded by the European Union and implemented by Generations for Peace and the following universities: The Hashemite University, Jordanian University, Balqa Applied University, and the Jordanian Education for Employment Organization.
The launch ceremony was attended by the Minister of State for Communication and Government Spokesperson Dr. Mohammad Al-Momani, the Minister of Youth Eng. Yazan Al-Shdaifat, the Ambassador of the European Union to Jordan Pierre-Christophe Chatzivas, and a number of presidents of the universities involved in the project. The Hashemite University was represented by the University President Prof. Khaled Hesham Hyari, the University Vice President Prof. Wasfi Al-Rawabdeh, the Dean of Student Affairs Prof. Basil Al-Mashaqbeh, the Director of the Center for Studies, Consultations and Community Service Dr. Fayez Al-Shurafat, and a number of university academic and administrative staff in addition to a number of representatives of universities, governmental and private institutions, and civil society organizations.
The projects aim to enhance youth participation in the labor market and enhance their engagement in their local communities. The partnership with universities also aims to develop (30) sustainable community initiatives designed by students to meet the needs of their local communities. Dr. Fayez Al-Shurafat, Director of the Center for Studies and Community Service/Director of the “Enhancing the Role of Youth in Community Development” Project at the Hashemite University, spoke about the university’s visions and its commitment to serving the local community, noting that the university is an active partner in this national development project in cooperation with the King Hussein Foundation, in order to support youth initiatives for the benefit of local communities in the governorates of Zarqa and Mafraq
He points out that the project "Enhancing the Role of Youth in Community Development" aims to enrich the role of the Community Service Center at The Hashemite University to be a leading center for enhancing youth civic participation and empowering them in developing their communities through designing, developing and implementing initiatives, as (100) male and female students from the university residing in Zarqa and Mafraq governorates will be selected, with a focus on women and people with disabilities, and local partners for these projects will be selected in municipalities, youth centers and civil institutions to contribute to the successful implementation and inclusion of various groups, and students will undergo an advanced capacity building process that enables them to innovate concepts and initiatives that benefit local communities. Dr. Al-Shurafat added that to ensure the sustainability of these initiatives, partner sectors will sign agreements with university youth to host the initiatives after their completion by implementing (10) supported initiatives, from which more than (10) thousand beneficiaries will benefit directly or indirectly in the targeted areas in Zarqa and Mafraq governorates, which include the municipalities of: Beirin, Al-Dhulayl, Al-Azraq, Al-Hashimiya, Bal'ama and Al-Khalidiya.
