Under the patronage of Her Highness Princess Muna Al-Hussein... The Faculty of Nursing at The Hashemite University celebrates its silver jubilee
On behalf of Her Highness Princess Muna Al-Hussein, Her Excellency Professor Dr. Rowaida Al-Maaytah sponsored the Hashemite University celebration of the silver jubilee of the Faculty of Nursing with the presence of the Director General of the Royal Medical Services, the Secretary General of the Jordanian Nursing Council, directors of public and private hospitals, vice presidents of the Hashemite University, deans of colleges at the university, deans of nursing colleges at Jordanian universities, and a number of health, official and popular figures and students of the college. The ceremony included honoring Her Highness Princess Muna Al-Hussein in appreciation and pride for her generous efforts in supporting the nursing and healthcare process in Jordan and her contribution to developing the nursing profession in Jordan and the region. It also included a presentation of the journey of achievement and excellence in the College of Nursing at the university since its establishment in 1999. Dr. Al-Maaytah conveyed the greetings of Her Highness Princess Muna Al-Hussein to the Hashemite University family and staff, and Her Highness’s congratulations to the faculty of Nursing on this happy occasion, noting the bright level of leadership of the faculty of Nursing at the university at the local and Arab levels, and its obtaining prestigious international accreditations and classifications, and the excellence of its staff, plans, programs and the efficiency of its graduates. Dr. Al-Maaytah spoke about what Jordan has achieved under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein in terms of development in the public education and higher education sector through the graduation of pioneering competencies, as well as what the royal vision has achieved in terms of developing the health sector and improving the health care provided to Jordanian and Arab citizens. Professor Dr. Khaled Hyari, President of The Hashemite University, delivered a speech in which he said: We are proud in this lofty scientific edifice that bears the most precious names in the hearts of Jordanians that our celebration comes in the midst of our national celebrations of the Silver Jubilee of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein assuming his constitutional powers.
Prof. Hyari thanked Her Highness Princess Muna Al-Hussein for her honor in sponsoring the ceremony, and Her Highness’s role under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein in contributing to improving health services for Jordanian citizens, highly appreciating Her Highness’s efforts in supporting the nursing profession, her contribution to developing nursing education and training programs, and raising awareness about the nursing profession and the status of nurses in society.
He said: We meet today to celebrate the silver jubilee of the faculty of Nursing, which has been keen throughout its journey to be a beacon of science and knowledge, and has contributed over 25 years to graduating generations of male and female nurses, numbering (4350) male and female graduates in the bachelor's level and (260) male and female graduates in the master's level, who carried the message of humanity and giving to various fields of work. Prof. Hyari said: The Hashemite University, like its sister Jordanian universities, has witnessed qualitative leaps in various fields during the reign of His Majesty King Abdullah II, thanks to His Majesty's concern in giving university education and scientific research top priority, out of his belief that human minds are capable of bringing about change towards development and modernity and facing challenges, which enabled us at the Hashemite University to move forward in developing the infrastructure, enhancing academic and administrative capabilities, creating specializations and academic programs that keep pace with the requirements of local and international labor markets, supporting scientific research and encouraging innovation.
The President of the Hashemite University stressed that our celebration today of the silver jubilee of the faculty of Nursing is a moment of reflection and pride in what the college has accomplished in providing distinguished education and practical training that keeps pace with the latest global developments in the field of nursing, building international partnerships, and strengthening ties of cooperation with national medical and health institutions.
For her part, Professor Dr. Jamila Abu Duhail, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing at the University, said in her speech: The development of the faculty of Nursing is a fruit of the implementation of the lofty royal vision of His Majesty King Abdullah II, which seeks to improve the quality of education and health care in the Kingdom. The faculty has strived to embody this vision by updating its programs to keep pace with the latest international standards, and providing its students with the knowledge and skills necessary to face developments in the nursing profession. Dr. Abu Duhail explained that the faculty has developed the level of education and training within a journey full of dedication and creativity, as the faculty has made great contributions over the years to enhancing education and training in the field of nursing, and has achieved many accomplishments that reflect its deep commitment to developing health cadres. She stated that the college offers a bachelor's program in nursing, and master's programs in three specializations: psychological and mental health, cancer, and maternal and women's health.
The ceremony included visual presentations about the royal patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein and Her Highness Princess Muna Al Hussein to support and sponsor the nursing process in Jordan. The ceremony also included national melodies presented by the musicians of the Jordanian Armed Forces.
The ceremony also included a series of presentations on the college's achievements over the quarter century since its establishment, the most important of which is obtaining the international accreditation ACEN this year 2024, its inclusion in the Shanghai World Classification, the establishment of simulation laboratories to raise the level of practical training, the opening of the Youth Friendly Clinic in cooperation with the Royal Society for Health Awareness, and the college's distinguished academic, administrative and technical cadres, great research activity, and its constant aspiration for creativity and innovation in nursing education. As well as presentations by a group of distinguished local and international college graduates, their success stories and the great contributions they have made to developing the profession. Employers also praised the efficiency of the graduates of the faculty of Nursing and the job opportunities they obtain due to their excellence and distinction in various partnering hospitals. The Secretary of the Jordanian Nursing Council also spoke about the graduates’ excellence in the professional practice exam, and the representative of the Nurses Syndicate also pointed out their excellence.
