The Hashemite University (HU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Canadian University Dubai (CUD).

The MoU was signed at a ceremony held at Canadian University Dubai’s Al Badaa’ Campus in the presence of Prof. Fawwaz Al-Abed Al-Haq, the university president and Prof. Karim Chelli, President and Vice-Chancellor of CUD, and several officials from both academic institutions.

The primary purpose of this agreement is to develop academic and cultural interchange between the universities through mutual assistance in the areas of education and research.

The vision of HU heavily parallels that of CUD, fostering a diverse culture that is not only committed to providing students with an academic experience, but encourages them to become life-long learners and active global citizens with a sense of civic duty and moral responsibility.

Pioneering in nature, HU has adopted a comprehensive environmental management strategy directed towards a green campus and climate action, implementing a 5 MWp photovoltaic (PV) renewable energy project to achieve 100% energy independence for the university. It is currently home to nearly 30,000 students and is a leader among the public and private sectors’ institutions (especially in photovoltaics) in both Jordan and Middle East North Africa (MENA) region.

Prof. Fawwaz Al-Abed Al-Haq added: “We are pleased to enter into this agreement with CUD. This new partnership will generate opportunities for everyone involved, fostering benefits that extend beyond borders. HU takes pride in achieving academic excellence, but also in preparing loyal men and women who are not only technically competent in their professional fields, but meaningful contributors to society.”

Prof. Karim Chelli said: “Collaboration is of great essence to CUD We are delighted to expand our partnership with HU, an academic institution recognized for its contributions to quality teaching, research, and outstanding outreach in their community. Together, we recognize the benefits to be derived from this increased cooperation and look forward to working with one another.”

The signing of the MoU highlights the efforts of both Universities to engage in cooperative efforts, generating opportunities for all members to participate in collaborative research, teaching, student, and staff exchanges through a series of activities and programs. The agreement also emphasizes the significance of knowledge transfer and the importance of contributing to the latest innovations to meet the current and future demands of society across a variety of disciplines, including but not limited to: Architecture and Interior Design; Communication and Media; Engineering, Applied Science and Technology; Management; Creative Industries; Environmental Health Sciences; and Social Sciences.
