   A number of researchers from the Hashemite University won two awards of the economic research in its third cycle for the year 2023, which is organized by Al-Hussein Fund for Creativity and Excellence in cooperation with the Central Bank of Jordan.

    The University received the award of the green economy for the research named as “ companies performance and the green factors : is the monetary policy important? A study about the financial sector in Jordan” by Dr. Omar Arabiat and Dr. Hashim Al-Shurfat from the Faculty of Business at the Hashemite University, and Dr. Allam Hamdan from Al-Ahliya University in Bahrain.

      The two winners asserted that the importance of the research revolves around studying the modifying impact for the Jordanian monetary policy on the relationship between green economy and the financial significance of the financial sector’s companies. By studying these relationships, the research suggests a set of recommendations which work on developing the environmental responsibility among the Jordanian companies.

     The university also won the award of the financial and banking sector, for the MA thesis entitled   “the impact of governance on the financial weakness: an evidence from the non-financial Jordanian companies” by the researcher Hamdi Al-Samman, and supervised by Dr. Wasfi Al-Salamat from the Faculty of Business at the Hashemite University.

     The researcher, Al-Samman, said that the study aimed at exploring the effect of corporate governance tools on the financial weakness in the non-financial companies which are listed in Amman stock exchange, through a practical application for Minsky’s financial instability hypothesis, and the results had revealed that a large percentage of the nonfinancial companies have high level of financial weakness. The analysis also showed that the large size of the of the board of the directors and the duality of the CEO increase the financial weakness. The study focused on the need to enhance the corporate governance practices and reinforcing the financial stability in the private sector.
