Hashemite University Charts Path to Global Prominence Through Innovation, Excellence

Zarqa, March 15 (Petra) - The Hashemite University is forging a path toward global recognition by embracing rapid advancements, anticipating future demands, and continually refining its academic programs.
Its vision, according to University President Dr. Khaled Hayari, is to cultivate a generation of graduates who can compete on local, regional, and international stages.
The university has earned 13 international accreditations and currently enrolls 30,000 students across 15 faculties, offering 55 undergraduate and 40 graduate programs.
In an interview with the Jordan News Agency (Petra), Dr. Hayari emphasized the university’s commitment to expanding on its achievements over the past three decades, strengthening partnerships with key national institutions in Zarqa to foster economic growth, social stability, and solutions to unemployment and sectoral challenges.
The Hashemite University is deepening its collaboration with Zarqa Governmental Hospital, leveraging its distinguished medical faculty to provide high-quality healthcare services.
It is also set to offer free dental care to the local community through student training programs. Plans are underway to construct a state-of-the-art educational dental clinic on campus, featuring 200 dental units, specialized treatment centers, and cutting-edge digital technology laboratories within the Faculty of Dentistry.
The university has embarked on an ambitious 30-month development project, funded by the European Union with a budget of €555,000, in strategic partnership with the King Hussein Foundation. This initiative is designed to address the evolving needs of communities in Zarqa and Mafraq.
A hallmark of the Hashemite University’s research excellence is its Structural and Environmental Systems Center, a leading institution in advanced structural testing.
The center has conducted 500 rigorous structural assessments across various sectors, supporting graduate research and collaborations with renowned international universities.
Further underscoring its research leadership, the university has partnered with the Agricultural Research Center to establish Jordan’s National Seed Bank, a project initiated under royal directives.
The university has contributed JOD 3 million to this endeavor, reinforcing Jordan’s role as a regional leader in plant genetic preservation and food security.
The Hashemite University continues to drive scientific progress with a focus on water and environmental sustainability. Supported by the Scientific Research and Innovation Support Fund at the Ministry of Higher Education, the university launched the Smart and Sustainable Irrigation System for Remote Farms in Jordan.
This initiative led to the creation of an Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud computing lab, a Smart Agriculture Digital Platform, and a dedicated smart farming garden on campus.
In the field of medical education, the university is collaborating with European institutions under the ERASMUS+ program to enhance clinical training.
A key initiative, the Educational Program for Training Clinical Instructors, is being developed in partnership with the Ministry of Health and leading medical faculties in Jordan and Europe.
Further bolstering its academic offerings, the university recently inaugurated a cosmetic simulation pharmacy, advancing pharmaceutical and cosmetic sciences training within the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Recognizing the critical link between education and employment, the Hashemite University has introduced specialized training programs that lead directly to job opportunities.
Supported by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Digiskills, these programs cater to students in IT, engineering, sciences, and business.
The university also prioritizes student welfare, launching initiatives such as the Dinar Fundraising Campaign for underprivileged students and expanding accessibility services, including the provision of assistive devices, sign language interpreters, and adaptive learning resources for students with disabilities.
The Hashemite University’s cutting-edge research has led to the granting of a U.S. patent for a radiation therapy measurement device, a breakthrough in cancer treatment.
In collaboration with King Abdulaziz University in Saudi Arabia, its researchers also secured a patent for a muscle strength assessment device.
In 2024, the university was awarded the Prince Hassan bin Talal Award for Scientific Excellence for its National Seed Bank project. It also attained the prestigious QS 5-Star rating, underscoring its commitment to academic and institutional excellence.
The Hashemite University’s faculty and students continue to receive high-profile accolades. These include the Crown Prince Award for Best Government Services App, first place in electronic chip and semiconductor design among Jordanian universities, Fulbright scholarships for three faculty members, the Arab Inspirers Award 2024 presented at the 5th Arab Conference in Dubai, the Abdul Hameed Shoman Award for Arab Researchers, and three winning engineering projects at the National Technology Festival.
The Hashemite University also secured first place in a regional pharmaceutical competition hosted in Saudi Arabia, and its IEEE student branch received awards for Best Model Branch and Outstanding Faculty Advisor.
Additionally, university researchers claimed top honors in the Economic Research Awards, organized by the Hussein Fund for Creativity and Excellence in collaboration with the Central Bank of Jordan.
In line with its vision for academic growth, the university has launched a Postgraduate Diploma in Teacher Preparation, incorporating modern teaching methodologies to ensure high-caliber educational outcomes.
It has also introduced a higher specialization certificate in medicine, initially covering pediatrics, general surgery, internal medicine, and obstetrics and gynecology, with plans to expand into otolaryngology, urology, family medicine, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, and ophthalmology.
Additionally, new master’s programs in educational administration, curriculum and instruction, educational psychology, and counseling have been established.
These expansions have increased the university’s enrollment capacity to 38,000 students, reinforcing its position as a leading higher education institution in the region.
The Hashemite University continues to meet international academic benchmarks, securing 13 prestigious global accreditations, including ABET accreditation for engineering and IT programs, international accreditation for its medical school, NAAB accreditation for architecture, and U.S. accreditation for occupational therapy.
Dr. Hayari reaffirmed the university’s unwavering commitment to excellence, positioning the Hashemite University as a trailblazer in higher education, research, and innovation both in Jordan and on the global stage.
