The vice president of the Hashemite University, Prof. Khaled  Al-Hayyary, sponsored the  closing events of AstraZeneca corporation’s activities for the continual learning and teaching program (pharmacy academy) which was inaugurated by the global company, AstraZeneca in Jordan since February, in accordance and cooperation with the Hashemite University's Entrepreneurial Centre for Health Care and patients' services.

Pharmacy Program is an educational program for continual and  fruitful improvement which aims at increasing the efficiency of pharmacists and keeping up with the latest scientific and global updates. it has been one of the outcomes of two educational campaigns, in addition to the continual visits from employees at AstraZeneca company with the Jordanian pharmacists. The Vice president, Dr. Al-Hyyary  appreciated such unique cooperation and programs  between the public and private sectors which represents a high level of efficiency and social  responsibility towards vocational work in various sectors. The concluding training workshops included an overview by Dr. Marwan Abu Jaber, the sales manager at AstraZeneca, who explained the role played by the international companies, especially AstraZeneca, in terms of health care, such as providing vaccinations and  high-quality medicines for cancer patients, stressing the need for the continuity of drug supply and ensuring successful quality partnerships with the public sectors  and the parties interested in the health issues as well. The workshop also  dealt with important health topics, such as a lecture on gastroesophageal reflux disease by Dr. Firas Zureikat from Abdali Hospital, and a presentation on the side effects of some medications that cause diseases by Dr. Mervat Al-Sous, Dean of Pharmacy at Yarmouk University, and finally a lecture on the art and science of managing patient’s pathological behaviors presented by Dr. Muhannad Odeh, the Strategic Adviser to Queen's University and the Director of the Pioneering Center for Curative Care Management at the Hashemite University.

Dr. Laith Al-Momani, the director of the private sector in Jordan and Palestine at AstraZeneca Company, stated that the program included approximately 1,000 people of pharmacists and employees as an outcome of mutual cooperation with AstraZeneca Company.  For his part, Dr. AbdulKareem Aldeesi, the general manager at AstraZeneca Company in Jordan, Syria, Yemen, and Sudan, stressed the social responsibility of the AstraZeneca Company for health care development. This program was actually preceded by a motivating program for pioneering projects entitled "Astrafrakra", in addition to the employment training program that the company provides annually to a number of pharmacists graduates in Jordan. In conclusion, Dr. Odeh asserted that these partnerships are a successful model for more empowerment, development, and boosting capacities, referring to the Golden Triangle, that benefits all parties from the international companies and the Jordanian educational sectors. He referred to the fruits of the joint and continuous work with AstraZeneca to expand the program with the aim of shouldering social responsibility and continuing empowerment and skills improvement in the near future, God willing.
