The Hashemite University achieving a remarkable advancement In Times Higher Education, THE, 2024 for sustainable development goals
Among the best of (401-600) global universities in accomplishing sustainable development goals, and one of the best (83) global universities in the field of renewable energy
The Hashemite University has accomplished a marked progress in the Times classification for sustainable development goals 2024, ranking as one of (401-600) participating institutions out of (1963), and Headed 200 points from the previous year among global universities. The university got the third rank locally among Jordanian Universities, heading 4 points comparing to the previous year.
The university has been interested in participating in the largest numbers of the sustainable development goals (SDGs), and consequently, this year the university participated in eleven goals including a goal named as “goal 17” which is related to partnership motivation for sustainable development. This classification needs to have data related to the “goal 17” in addition to at least any other three goals.
The university scored high rankings in several goals, it has been ranked as one of the best of (83) global universities in the goal of clean renewable energy comparing to the last year. The university ranked the first locally in the goal of climate action, heading 100 places comparing to the last year rank from (200-300) to (101-200) globally. Regarding the goal of economic growth and proper work, the university moved forward from (400-600) to (201-300) globally. The university also got the rank of one of the best of (400) universities globally in achieving the goals: good health and wellness, and gender equity, heading (200) points.
The president of the Hashemite University, Professor Khaled Hesham Al-Hyari, stated that this excellence highlights the distinction of the University, its reputation and role, and the international position through being one of the best universities globally, in contributing to accomplishing the goals of sustainable development of dealing with climate change and using clean energy, maintaining the education quality and participating in the economic growth. He added that the university is moving forward steadily and confidently for more development in different fields through following meaningful systematic steps and policies, which aim at achieving the university's vision of leadership and excellence. In turn, the vice president of the university for planning, quality, and international outreach, Professor Mohammad Al-Masha’aleh, praised this great achievement and the efforts which led to this prestigious position, appreciating the role of the faculty members committees, who worked on these goals under the supervision of the deanship of the academic development and international outreach.
The Dean of the Academic Development and International Outreach, Professor Dr. Mahmoud Al-Smadi ,stated that the Hashemite University is moving forward noticeably as it works hard for addressing the strategic plans related to the sustainable development into implementation with the continuous support from the administration of the university.
